Losses to HV71 and Orebro left champions Skelleftea well off the early pace, but they are up to fifth in the standings thanks to a 6-1 northern derby thrashing of Lulea, who haven't picked up a point since their win over Rogle on opening night.
Jonathan Pudas and Mikkel Aagaard profited from Rickard Hugg assists to put the hosts 2-0 up before Par Lindholm made it three in the final minute of period one. Lulea hoped Valtteri Puustinen's goal to begin the second period was the beginning of a comeback, but that was soon ended by a disallowed goal and a shorthanded strike from Pontus Johansson. Johansson turned provider for Hudson Fasching in the third, before Aagaard scored his second to complete the rout.
The only side below Lulea in the table are Timra on two points from their four matches, and one goal from Brynas was enough to keep them bottom and see the home side go third after three wins in a row inside 60 minutes.
Julien Gauthier missed an early penalty for Brynas, who were guilty of too many men on the ice soon after, yet it was while shorthanded from that penalty that Axel Andersson made it 1-0 in the 11th minute, before Erik Kallgren (19 saves) and Magnus Chrona (4) made the shutout a team effort.
Farjestad put an end to IF Bjorkloven's unbeaten return to the SHL, but the new boys made it three wins from four with a 4-2 triumph over HV 71, who sit 11th as one of four teams at the bottom of the table with one win from four so far.
Jan Mysak and Lukas Rousek twice gave HV the lead, only for Robin Kovacs and Topi Niemela to hit back before the first period was over. In the second, Bjorkloven pulled clear thanks to two more strikes - first from Joel Mustonen, before Lucas Ekestahl-Jonsson rounded off IFB's maiden home win.
