Colts sign All-Pro RB Jonathan Taylor to $44 million contract extension

Taylor's new extension can reach up to $47 million with performance incentives. 

After the Atlanta Falcons signed star RB Bijan Robinson to a three-year, $75 million extension earlier in the week (details here), Taylor becomes the latest running back to earn a big payday. 

Taylor, 27, led the entire NFL last season in combined touchdowns with a league-leading 18 rushing touchdowns paired with two receiving touchdowns, sitting third in scrimmage yards (1,963) behind Robinson (2,298) and San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey (2,126). 

The Colts' franchise back also led the NFL with 84 rushing first downs, the most he has put up in a single season since his career year in 2021 when he led the NFL in rushing yards (1,811), rushing touchdowns (18), and first downs (107). 

Taylor is now coming off back-to-back seasons with 1,100 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns, averaging just below 5.0 yards per carry in each year. 

Indy kicks off their season on September 13th against the Baltimore Ravens.
