The number 21 seed seldom faced a break point in the 66-minute match as he reaches third Masters 1000 semi-final of the year. Fils will take on Flavio Cobolli next.
01:40 CET - Iga Swiatek is through to the semi-finals in Cincinnati as the defending champion was on court for just 28 minutes due to Elena Rybakina retiring.
Up 4-1 before the Kazakh retired, the seventh seed, who had just beaten her opponent in Toronto earlier in the month, converted her only break point chance in her first return game of the match.
Swiatek will face Jessica Pegula in the semi-finals.
23:53 CET - Flavio Cobolli's excellent season goes on, with the Italian completing the comeback to beat Tommy Paul 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 and make the semi-finals in Ohio.
The deciding set lasted 48 minutes, but the Italian very much dominated it, forcing five break points and not facing a single one, only losing four points in total on his serve and none on his first serve.
He was able to convert one of those break points to make it 5-4, and that was enough to take him into the final four of a Masters 1000 tournament for the first time in his career.
23:04 CET - We're heading to another decider! Cobolli has bounced back to win the second set 6-3 in 43 minutes against Paul thanks to an early break of serve.
22:20 CET - Tommy Paul leads the first men's quarter-final, with the American winning the first set against French Open finalist Flavio Cobolli 6-2.

21:28 CET - Jessica Pegula battles into the final four! The world number three has sealed her spot in the semi-finals with a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 win over Amanda Anisimova.
The first two sets were both relatively one-sided, with Pegula comfortably the better player in the first and Anisimova fairly dominant in the second. However, the match then came to life in a decider that was extremely tight and lasted for over an hour.
Pegula raced into a 3-0 lead, but Anisimova fought back and took things to a tiebreak, where Pegula then came from behind to claim victory.
18:15 CET - First up, in 45 minutes, is an all-American clash between Pegula and Anisimova, and you'd have to say that the former is the favourite.
That's largely because of the H2H record, which Pegula leads 5-0, not including exhibitions. What's more, two of those wins have come in 2026, four have come on hard courts, and one has come at this very tournament, all the way back in 2020.
That being said, Anisimova was able to challenge her compatriot at the Australian Open and in Dubai earlier this year, even if she did lose, and she's played some of her best tennis in a long time this week.

The opening match of the day is an all-American affair, as third seed and former finalist Jessica Pegula takes on world number 10 Amanda Anisimova, who has won each of her last four WTA 1000 quarter-finals.
Following that clash, men's seventh seed Flavio Cobolli faces home favourite Tommy Paul, with the American heading into the contest on the back of a three-match winning streak against top-10 players.
Later on, the headline quarter-final of the day sees Iga Swiatek continue her title defence against second seed Elena Rybakina, who is just two wins away from becoming world number one for the first time in her career.
Closing out the day, talented Frenchman Arthur Fils takes on surprise package Thiago Agustin Tirante, who has already seen off the likes of Novak Djokovic and Jakub Mensik en route to the last eight.
