05:30 CET - Wimbledon winner Linda Noskova is the last player to make it through on Tuesday as she eliminates Lanlana Tararudee 6-4, 6-2.
The sixth seed was not broken at any point during the match, fending off all three of her opponent's chances. Noskova ended up with 25 winners to 20 unforced errors en route to making it through.
05:15 CET - Number two seed Carlos Alcaraz had a first set hiccup against Jaime Faria, but bounced back to win 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 6-2.
The two-time former champion suffered a slow start, allowing for Faria to make the most of it in the opening set. But, there was no panic from the world number three, as he fired 43 winners and 29 unforced errors during the victory. His next opponent will be Wu Yibing.
04:55 CET - The latest players to move on is 22nd seed Valentin Vacherot, who defeated Kamil Majchrzak 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2, and Tommy Paul, who also needed four sets to get the better of Dino Prizmic 6-2, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
04:25 CET - A couple more matches have just been completed. On the women's side, number nine seed Elina Svitolina battled her way past Maya Joint 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-4 in a little over two hours. Despite serving for the match during the second set, the Ukrainian had to show her mettle in the decider to move on.
As for Matteo Berrettini, his run at Flushing Meadows comes to a close as he falls 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (4) to Mariano Navone. The world number 49 had more than half the unforced errors to his opponent, which played a large part in his ability to find a way through.
03:50 CET - Home favourite Frances Tiafoe gets the job done in straight sets, beating Rei Sakamoto 6-3, 7-6 (3), 7-5.
After getting through the first set with little trouble, the American was given a stern test by the Japanese qualifier. The last two sets took over two hours, with Tiafoe finding a way through.
03:10 CET - Alexander Bublik enjoyed a straight set win over Adrian Mannarino, winning 6-3, 6-1, 6-1. With 16 aces, the Kazakh star cruised through to the third round.
It was much more work for Ekaterina Alexandrova, however, as she needed three sets to outlast Kimberly Birrell 6-1, 2-6, 6-3. The number 18 seed converted four of her nine break point opportunities as part of the win.
Elsewhere, Stefanos Tsitsipas got past Lloyd Harris 6-7 (1), 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-4, while Jiri Lehecka prevailed 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 over Toby Samuel.
02:05 CET - It was a comprehensive performance from Aryna Sabalenka as she breezes past Polina Iatcenko 6-1, 6-1.
Having a first serve percentage of 76%, the world number one broke the qualifier on six occaions as she finished her second round match in just 54 minutes.
01:30 CET - Iva Jovic wins a tricky first round match against Magdalena Frech 7-5, 6-3 in a match that lasted two hours and nine minutes.
The number 14 seed was broken twice in each set in a hard-faught affair, but her 27 winners to her opponent's 10 paved the way for her to move on.
01:15 CET - After nearly throwing away the third set, Canada's Dennis Shapovalov makes it through after getting the better of Luca van Assche 6-0, 6-4, 7-6 (7).
After losing serve twice while serving for the match, the 27-year-old found his way past the Frenchman in the tiebreak, closing things out on the third match point. He will be up against Ben Shelton in his next match.
00:50 CET - Zizou Bergs moves on at Flushing Meadows after the Belgian beat Carlos Taberner 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Bergs, seeded 31st for the tournament, hit 11 aces while winning 82% of his first serve points as he makes it to the second round of the year's final major. Next for him will be Dutchman Jesper de Jong in the second round.
00:25 CET - Number 30 seed Jelena Ostapenko is out of the US Open after suffering a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 loss to Germany's Tatjana Maria.
It was an excellent response from the world number 83 after losing the opening set. Breaking Ostapenko six times in the match, Maria won 12 of the last 14 games to triumph. She will face Nikola Bartunkova in the next round.
23:02 CET - Rafael Jodar is out of the US Open!
After following up his run to the French Open quarter-finals with some stunning performances in Montreal and Washington, many saw the 19-year-old as a title contender in New York, but he's fallen well short, losing 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 to Lucky Loser Yunchaokete Bu.
Jodar was a long, long way best, but let's take nothing away from Bu, who had never won a Grand Slam match before this tournament but is now into the third round thanks to an utterly dominant display, in which he dropped just five points on his first serve, forced 16 break points and faced none.
As a result, Jodar becomes the highest-seeded player ever (13th) to lose to a Lucky Loser at the US Open.
22:38 CET - One of the USA's biggest hopes is through, with Ben Shelton coming through a real test against former top-10 player Hubert Hurkacz.
Hurkacz more than held his own, with the final three sets all lasting either just under or just over an hour, and had the Pole converted one of two chances to break and go 5-4 up in the final one, things could have been different.
Ultimately though, Shelton marches on, and the 2023 semi-finalist is undoubtedly one of the favourites for the title.
22:31 CET - Wimbledon runner-up Karolina Muchova has moved through with a superb performance, decimating Katie Boulter 6-1, 6-0 in just 57 minutes.
There are few better sights in tennis than Muchova at her best, and she treated us to that today, with some of her 14 winners being absolute stunners.
22:20 CET - Many matches in New York have been suspended due to rain, including a potential upset, with Spanish sensation Rafael Jodar 6-2, 6-1, 4-1 down to Yunchaokete Bu.
21:19 CET - Marta Kostyuk's hopes of reaching a third consecutive Grand Slam semi-final remain very much alive, with the 11th seed beating 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens 6-1, 7-5 to advance.
After losing the first set badly, Stephens regrouped well and made the match a real contest in the second, but after failing to convert a set point at 5-5, she lost her serve and couldn't recover.
20:04 CET - We have an upset! Four-time quarter-finalist Andrey Rublev is out, with the 23rd seed losing 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, 6-4 to Daniel Merida Aguilar.
19:20 CET - On the men's side of the tournament, former champion Daniil Medvedev looks to be hitting form at the perfect time, with the Russian dispatching Sebastian Gorzny in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, 7-5.
Victory marks back-to-back wins for Medvedev for the first time since Wimbledon, as he prepares to face either Arthur Rinderknech or Jaume Munar in the third round.
In what's turning out to be a wide-open men's draw, Medvedev could well fancy his chances of a deep run this fortnight...
18:48 CET - Third seed and 2024 runner-up Jessica Pegula has made light work of fellow American Sofia Kenin, with the 32-year-old romping to a 6-3, 6-1 victory in a measly 57 minutes on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Pegula didn't face a single break point in the contest, winning 86% of points behind her first delivery, while hitting 18 winners to only eight unforced errors.
She faces former finalist Leylah Fernandez next, who defeated Mananchaya Sawangkaew in straight sets.
18:24 CET - Former world number four Jasmine Paolini has sealed her spot in the third round after a convincing 6-4, 6-1 triumph over compatriot Lucrezia Stefanini.
The popular Italian fired down 20 winners across the two sets, and will face either 16th seed Sorana Cirstea or France's Diane Parry for a place in the last 16.
17:59 CET - Taylor Townsend is the first woman through to the third round in New York, with the American absolutely crushing Australia's Taylah Preston 6-1, 6-1 in just 49 minutes.
The 30-year-old, who reached the fourth round at Flushing Meadows last year, won all 23 points behind her first serve in a hugely dominant display against her error-strewn opponent.
16:48 CET - First up on Arthur Ashe Stadium this afternoon, third seed Jessica Pegula takes on compatriot Sofia Kenin, with Pegula looking to reach the US Open third round for a seventh successive year.

14:00 CET - Good afternoon and welcome to our coverage of the US Open, as the second-round action gets underway at Flushing Meadows!
We're just a few hours away from play getting started in New York, with women's third seed Jessica Pegula coming up against fellow American and former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin in a fascinating second-round clash.
Also in early action, 2021 champion Daniil Medvedev faces Sebastian Gorzny, while Diana Shnaider and Jasmine Paolini take on Karolina Pliskova and Lucrezia Stefanini, respectively.
Later, in the night session on Arthur Ashe Stadium, top seed and defending champion Aryna Sabalenka takes on qualifier Polina Iatcenko, before Carlos Alcaraz continues his comeback from injury against Portugal's Jaime Faria.
Elsewhere, Ben Shelton, Elina Svitolina, Alex de Minaur and Karolina Muchova also take to the court on a jam-packed Wednesday.
