16:30 CET - That's all for our coverage of the tennis in Asia for today. The ATP tournaments in Beijing and Tokyo may be over, but the women roll on in China tomorrow as the men's Shanghai Masters gets underway. Join us again in the morning for coverage of those events as tennis' Asian swing rumbles on.
14:52 CET - That wasn't the way that Djokovic would have wanted to win the title, but it takes nothing away from what an incredible week this has been for the 39-year-old.
Many doubted whether he still had the ability to beat a player as good as US Open champion Alexander Zverev, but he did so, and then followed that up by winning all three sets he contested across his matches with Daniil Medvedev and De Minaur.
As a result, he remains unbeaten at the China Open with an incredible 34-0 record, and now has just one fewer career title than great rival Roger Federer, with only Jimmy Connor ahead of those two with 109 to his name.
Djokovic will harbour dreams of surpassing Connor's record tally, and after what he did this week, it would take a brave man to write him off.

14:40 CET - Novak Djokovic wins the 2026 China Open!
He's claimed his seventh Beijing title and the 102nd of his career following a withdrawal from De Minaur, who has been forced to retire with an injury.
14:25 CET - Djokovic is now just one set away from his 102nd career title, after edging a tight opener with De Minaur 7-6(3) in one hour and eight minutes.
It was a set dominated by whoever was serving, but the Serb did face one break point and saved it with a stunning backhand, before upping his level in the tiebreak as he so often does.
Whether he could prevail in another gruelling set is another matter though, with him having a medical timeout before the second.
14:10 CET - Nikola Bartunkova has sealed the last spot in the Beijing semi-finals, beating Sinja Kraus 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 in just under two hours.
The 20-year-old rising star has moved into the final four of a WTA 1000 tournament for the first time, and will next face compatriot Muchova.
13:12 CET - His celebration left no doubt that winning this title means a lot to Alcaraz. It's the first that he's won since February, and the first that he's won since suffering a serious wrist injury; his triumph will give him confidence that he can fully recover from that and get back to his best sooner rather than later.
He now has 10 ATP 500 titles to his name and 27 ATP titles in total, one more than Alexander Zverev and the same amount as fellow Spanish icon David Ferrer.

13:02 CET - Carlos Alcaraz defends his Tokyo title!
The Spaniard has triumphed again in the Japanese capital with a hard-fought 7-6(4), 6-4 win over Jiri Lehecka. The Czech player held his own, very nearly winning the first set and only facing a single break point in the second, but Alcaraz was ultimately able to see him off after one hour and 37 minutes.
12:15 CET - Carlos Alcaraz has edged a hard-fought first set against Jiri Lehecka, 7-6(4), in the final of the Japan Open in Tokyo. The Czech broke the defending champion early, but Alcaraz worked his way back to put one hand on the trophy.
At the hour, over in Beijing, the second final of the day will get started with Novak Djokovic facing Alex de Minaur as he looks to wrap up a record-extending seventh China Open title. The two have met five times, with the Serb edging the head-to-head record 4-1. However, De Minuar did win their last meeting on hard court.

12:01 CET - Seventh seed Karolina Muchova has outlasted Naomi Osaka in Beijing to win their fourth-round clash 7-5, 1-6, 7-6(7) and progress to the quarter-finals of the China Open.
Muchova looked to have the match sewn up when she was leading 5-4 in the third set and up 40-0, but Osaka remarkably saved five match points to stay alive. Alas, she couldn't complete the turnaround, although she did save a further three match points in the deciding tiebreak.

The Czech will take on the winner of compatriot Nikola Bartunkova and Sinja Kraus in the final eight; those two face off in the day's last match, which is up next.
10:00 CET - We are just one hour away from our first men's final today - the Tokyo decider between defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and Czech challenger Jiri Lehecka.
As mentioned below, Alcaraz is looking to become the first man to defend the Japanese crown in 32 years, while Lehecka is eyeing just his third ATP Tour-level title, and his first since January 2025 (Brisbane).
The two have met on four occasions, with Alcaraz leading the head-to-head 3-1. Lehecka beat the Spaniard in the Doha quarter-finals in 2025, while two of Alcaraz's wins have come on grass.

08:25 CET - Coco Gauff sparked controversy yesterday at the China Open when she stopped play during a crucial point against home hope Sun Xinran to complain about a flickering advertising board. The American star has since come out to report the 'insane' amount of racist abuse she received on social media after going on to win the match.

07:40 CET - Wimbledon winner and world number six, Linda Noskova, has been dumped out of the China Open by Ekaterina Alexandrova. The Russian won their fourth-round match quite comfortably, prevailing 6-2, 6-2 in just over an hour on court.
Alexandrova fired down six aces and saved four break points on her way to victory, which sees her reach the quarter-finals in Beijing. She will next take on compatriot Mirra Andreeva, who also won earlier today.
07:00 CET - Hello, and welcome to our coverage of the ATP and WTA action in Asia for Tuesday, October 6th. The main events today are the men's finals in Tokyo and Beijing, but we'll also be tracking the women's matches in China.
All eyes will be on Tokyo from 11:00 CET, when top seed Carlos Alcaraz takes on Czech Jiri Lehecka in the final of the ATP 500 event in Japan. The Spaniard will be seeking the first successful defence of the title since Pete Sampras in 1994.
At 13:00 CET, our attention moves to Beijing, where Novak Djokovic faces Aussie Alex de Minaur in the men's China Open decider. Djokovic will be looking to clinch a record-extending seventh China Open title and stretch his insane winning run in Beijing to 34 matches.
Throughout the day, the WTA 1000 event in Beijing will be progressing, with the fourth round now underway. Kicking the day off there, Mirra Andreeva has already progressed to the quarter-finals, after beating Daria Snigur 6-2, 6-2 in the day's early match.

Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova is currently on court, with her compatriot and fellow Grand Slam finalist Karolina Muchova taking on Naomi Osaka later this morning.
