The Shanghai Masters enters its second week, with Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Felix Auger-Aliassime headlining the third-round action. Meanwhile, the final WTA 1000 event of the year gets underway in Wuhan, and ScoresStat's Tennis Tracker will keep you updated with all the latest.

17:35 CET - And the action has come to a close for the day in Wuhan now, too. It is a shock result as home player and qualifier Han Shi came from a set down to beat 13th seed Alexandra Eala and book her place in the next round.

That is now two defeats from two for Eala on the Asian Swing after an underwhelming US Open and it will feel like a long time ago when she won the title in Washington in August.

16:13 CET - In the last match of the day in Shanghai, 15th seed Tommy Paul has beaten 17th seed Valentin Vacherot, winning 6-4, 6-2.

It's a disappointing outcome for Vacherot, who famously won the tournament as a qualifier and became the lowest-ranked Masters 1000 champion ever last year in what was an unforgettable run.

Paul, on the other hand, will be very happy with how things are going. The American has yet to drop a set, and faces Bergz next rather than the clash with Alcaraz that he would have expected.

14:53 CET - There's been another upset, with world number 10 Arthur Fils losing 7-5, 6-4 to unseeded Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp.

Fils was the better player for much of the match, but just couldn't deliver in the biggest moments, taking just one of nine break points.

It's been an excellent few months for Van de Zandschulp, who reached the quarter-finals of the US Open and has now reached the last 16 in Shanghai.

14:17 CET - Carlos Alcaraz is out of the Shanghai Masters!

The Spaniard has produced a really poor performance to lose 7-5, 7-6 (4) to Belgium's Zizou Bergs. He won just 26% of points when facing his opponent's first serve, and made 27 unforced errors as opposed to 16 winners.

A few off days are to be expected from Alcaraz given he's still working his way back to full fitness, but it's always a surprise to see him playing at such a low level. Full credit to Bergs though, who served excellently to take full advantage.

It's a costly defeat, with it confirming that Alexander Zverev will end 2026 as the world number one.

13:10 CET - Daniil Medvedev is through in Shanghai. The fifth seed has beaten the Czech Republic's Dalibor Svrcina in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.

In a consummate display, the Russian hit double the winners compared to Svrcina, and won five of nine break points to see himself into the next round.

11:15 CET - Another brute of a game has come to an end in Shanghai; Rafa Jodar has seen off fellow top-20 player, Jiri Lehecka, in three sets.

The Spaniard needed to show a lot of fight after going a set behind, but he rallied to win 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-4.

Over in Wuhan, Maria Sakkari is into the next round after a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Croatian veteran Donna Vekic.

10:51 CET - A big win for Stefanos Tsitsipas in Shanghai, as the Greek star has upset 11th seed Taylor Fritz after a 135-minute battle.

The 2019 ATP Finals champion came back from a set down to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. It was a closely fought affair throughout, with Tsitsipas edging the breaks of serve to move on in China.

10:12 CET - Jasmine Paolini is into the next round in Wuhan, thanks to a straight-sets 6-3, 6-4 victory over Sara Bejlek.

The former Grand Slam finalist was more clinical on break points as both players struggled to control the match on their serve.

She will face either Nikola Bartunkova or Lilli Jagger in the next round.

08:55 CET - Over in Wuhan, the standout result comes from Leylah Fernandez edging an epic tussle against Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova as the Canadian looks to build on her impressive title in Singapore last month.

08:30 CET - The first two matches of the day have concluded in Shanghai as Felix Auger-Aliassime was made to work for victory against veteran Pablo Carreno-Busta.

Auger-Aliassime eventually outclassed the Spaniard in the deciding set but was forced into a decider after Carreno-Busta stunned the fourth seed to take the second set. It will have frustrated the Canadian to have to play another three sets in the early rounds in Shanghai after being taken to a deciding set by Camilo Carabelli in the previous round.

In the other early match in Shanghai, it was a more routine win for Casper Ruud against Learner Tien as the Norwegian won in straight sets in under two hours.

07:30 CET - Good morning, and welcome back to our coverage of the Shanghai Masters and Wuhan Open as we enter the business end of the tennis season.

The third round continues in Shanghai, with Felix Auger-Aliassime and Learner Tien currently in action.

There are some intriguing matches to look forward to this morning, including Jiri Lehecka vs Rafa Jodar and Taylor Fritz vs Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Daniil Medvedev and Arthur Fils are also in action throughout the day, before Carlos Alcaraz takes on Zizou Bergs and defending champion Valentin Vacherot clashes with Tommy Paul.

Over in Wuhan, the first round is underway as Ekaterina Alexandrova is locked in a third set against Canadian Leylah Fernandez.

In sad news, the title winner in Beijing, Qinwen Zheng, has withdrawn from Wuhan due to an injury in her right shoulder.

Jasmine Paolini, Maria Sakkari, and Alexandra Eala will all take to the court later on.
