15:55 CET - Maja Chwalinska's utterly remarkable 2026 is on the verge of a dream ending, as she stunned good friend and fellow Pole Iga Swiatek, 7-5, 6-1, for her first top-10 win and a spot in the Wuhan final.
Chwalinska, who reached the Roland Garros final earlier this year as a qualifier, somehow won the first set despite trailing 3-5, 15-40, before Swiatek looked to be struggling with some sort of an injury in the second set.
She will face Sonay Kartal in a final surely absolutely no one predicted ahead of the tournament, with both players eyeing a maiden WTA 1000 title. For Swiatek, this defeat is a huge blow for her chances of qualifying for the WTA Finals.
14:55 CET - Rafael Jodar has caused the third big upset on this Saturday full of surprises after beating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets to book an all-Spanish final in Shanghai.
Jodar had been the comeback king in Shanghai before today, but the rising star was in no mood to mess around as he had the beating of Medvedev from early on and never looked back.
That win makes Jodar the youngest finalist in Shanghai Masters history and secures a career-high world ranking of 11th.
13:25 CET - Sonay Kartal is through to her first-ever WTA 1000 final after battling past Jelena Ostapenko in two tense tiebreaks!
The dream run continues in Wuhan for Kartal, who will now face either Iga Swiatek or Maja Chwalinska in the final, and that match is just about to get underway.

12:51 CET - The second semi-final will see who will face the confident-looking Davidovich Fokina in the final. Davidovich Fokina's fellow countryman Rafael Jodar will hope it is him who awaits in tomorrow's final but the exciting talent faces a big test against in-form Daniil Medvedev.
As for Medvedev, the big-hitting Russian has carried on the impressive form that saw him reach the final in Beijing but he hasn't had it all his own way. The final in Beijing, where Novak Djokovic had the better of Medvedev, will give Jodar confidence in pulling off a shock win.
Jodar has beaten some tricky opponents en route to the semi-finals and has shown a never-die attitude, winning every match so far in three sets after going a set down - the youngster loves a comeback win.

08:00 CET - Good morning and welcome to the semi-final day at the Shanghai Masters and Wuhan Open! It promises to be a fascinating day of action, and it all gets underway in two and a half hours, with the first semi-final as top seed Alexander Zverev takes on Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Davidovich Fokina is enjoying a dream Asian Swing so far, having already won the title in Chengdu last month but this is his toughest test yet. Victory against soon-to-be world number one, who is also enjoying a strong tournament, would be a statement win, but all logic points towards a routine Zverev win.
The German has dropped two sets en route to this stage but looked in imperious form as he swatted aside Alex De Minaur in the previous round.

Over in Wuhan, the first semi-final on this semi-final Saturday gets underway at 11:00 CET as the story of the tournament, Sonay Kartal, takes on world 34 and heavy favourite Jelena Ostapenko for a place in the final.
However, dismissing Kartal's chances at this tournament has already proven to be a mistake after the British player knocked out Jasmine Paolini and world number six Elina Svitolina en route to this stage.
